Introduction:
Real-Time shipping means that when a customer places an order, the store will communicate with the shipping company to determine the cost of shipping. All of this is done in real-time, or immediately, while the customer is still on your website.
Benefits of real-time shipping versus manual shipping are:
- real-time shipping provides your customers with the most up to date shipping prices
- real-time shipping allows your customers to choose from multiple shipping methods such as next day, ground, air, etc.
- with real-time shipping you do not have to enter shipping tables and are able to save on the time and expense of doing this. And, your store will be up and running faster.
Mall23 includes the four most popular shipping methods:
- USPS
- UPS
- FedEx
- Canadian Post
USPS Implementation:
USPS is the United States government shipping organization and can ship to most countries. You may manage this shipping method by logging into the store manager and clicking on Shipping Manager. Then click on USPS Shipping.
From the management screen you are able to activate USPS shipping and enter your USPS login and password. You may also select various USPS specific settings. Check with the USPS before changing any of these settings. They include:
- USPS Services Available
- Machineable
- Allow International Shipping
- Package Size
You are also given the option of selecting a drop-ship location if you have created at least one distribution account (see the section on drop-shipping for more information).
Finally, each USPS shipping method is displayed with the option of adding handling fees or allowing for free shipping. You may enter a handling fee that is only applied to the shipping methods you specify. And, if appropriate, you may choose to display that fee to your customers.
If you like, you may also enable free shipping for this method. This overrides any free shipping requirements imposed upon individual products within a customers basket. When you enable free shipping, you may include a minimum number of products.
UPS Implementation:
Enable UPS real-time shipping in the Store Settings screen. Once enabled, you may modify the UPS settings by clicking on Shipping Manager and then UPS Shipping.
Settings on the main page include package type and residential or business shipping. You are also able to specify a drop-ship location if you have created at least one distribution account (see the section on drop-shipping for more information).
As with USPS, USP allows you to add a handling fee to each shipping method. You may also allow for free shipping.
By clicking on License Information in the top navigation, you are able to enter your UPS License Number, User Name, and Password. You should have received your User Name and Password from the UPS website when you initially signed up for your account.
UPS requires two setups. The first is done on their website. From their website you receive your Account Number, User Name, and Password. The second setup must be done through the Mall23 manager. You are given your UPS Licence Number only after filling out the forms under the Request UPS License link in the top navigation.
The Request UPS License forms ask you for your company information and UPS Account Number. The Account Number is the one given to you when you initially created your account on the UPS website. Once you are finished with the form, UPS will email you your UPS License Number.
Canadian Post Implementation:
Enable Canadian Post real-time shipping in the Store Settings screen. Once enabled, you may modify the Canadian Post settings by clicking on Shipping Manager and then Canada Post.
To use Canadian Post, you must first request an ID by emailing: sellonline@canadapost.ca. Once you have that, you may enter it on this page. In addition, you may select a drop-ship location if you have created at least one distribution account (see the section on drop-shipping for more information).
As with USPS and USP, Canadian Post allows you to add a handling fee to each shipping method. You may also allow for free shipping.
