Introduction:
Mall23 comes with all the tools you as a web developer or internet host need to make custom manager interfaces for your clients. These interface changes are all done by simply turning the feature on or off through database calls - no code changes are required! This ability allows you to:
- Sell Mall23 in various "flavors": lite, regular, extra-strength, and anything in between. It is up to your imagination and business model.
- Give your clients the ability to manage basic store functionality but not touch settings.
- Allow your clients to assign their employees to manage various parts of the store.
- Turn features on or off based on how much the client is paying for your service. For example, if a client needs an additional feature and is paying $10/month, you can add that additional feature for another $1/month.
- Run remote scripts on client sites.
- Disable sites if payment has not arrived. And reenable when payment is received.
- Rebrand the store and all updates. Run an auto-update server at your location.
Disabled features do not appear within the manager interface at all. This helps you manage your clients expectations and reduce the possiblity of internal security breaches.
Web Developers:
Mall23 Flavors
You as a web developer will encounter many clients, each with a different need and budget. Mall23 alllows your to customize each deployment depending on these factors. For example, say your client has a small budget and is a manufacturer who drop-ships products wholesale. Either before, or after, installing their licensed copy of Mall23, you can disable any extras that they will not need.
Disable:
- Real-time shipping methods.
- Payment methods (you will log in as the Global Administrator and enter this one time)
- All Web Server Utilities except import and export functions.
- Product comparisons
- Digital goods
- Suppliers
- Drop-ship locations
- Product reviews and ranking
- Groups and Rights management
Once these are disabled, your customer will never see anything about them in the manager and they will not affect their online store.
Employment Management:
Generally your clients will have many employees who have various jobs and who need specific access to the store manager. For example, customer service needs access to the orders and customers but no access to the product information. Your product managers require access to product information but do not need to see orders.
You can create a custom Group for each of these employee types -- and more. In this example, you would create two Groups: Customer Service and Product Managers.
The Customer Service Group would be granted Rights having to do with orders and customers. The Product Managers Group would be granted Rights to add and modify products.

Hosting Companies:
Mall23 has unique functions for hosting companies. Our one-of-a-kind auto-update feature will keep all of your clients sites up to date. And, at the same time both you and them the flexibility to customize their store. There is no other store system available that gives you such marketing power!
In addition to keeping your client sites secure and fresh with the newest updates, you can use Mall23 to manage what features each site you have sold has! Lets say that a client calls you up. They are paying you $10/month for a basic store without real-time UPS shipping. They changed their business and now use UPS.
Your customer support personell can simply log into the Mall23 manager and turn that feature on for that site - and only that site. The next time that customer logs into their store manager, they will be able to enter their UPS information!
Depending on your business model, you could either charge a one-time "setup" fee. Or, charge a bit more per month. Or both!

Rebrand Store and Auto-Update:
When you have a rebranding license (contact us) for Mall23, you not only have the ability to change the store to your name, but you are also able to run your own auto-update server. This means that all updates to all licensed Mall23 editions you have sold come from your server. This, in turn, means that all updates will also be branded to your name! We can help you set up your Mall23 auto-update server once you have a Mall23 rebranding license.
How?
You can disable any feature by either modifying the setup script, or after the store is installed, by logging in as the Global Administrator and revoking Rights.
Before you make any changes, however, map out who will have rights to do what. Mall23 contains over 150 Rights. This can become a bit overwhelming and confusing if things are not mapped out in a good plan.
We suggest that you create a new custom Group and grant specific Rights to that Group. Then, create a user who is a member of that Group. We can help you edit the setup script when after you have planned out your changes.
