Introduction:
Discount codes can be created in many ways. Each code can have several filters applied to it. Combinations of these filters and discounts can allow you to advertise things like:
- "This week only - $10 off every purchase over $100!"
- "10% off purchases more than $500" - and limit the max to $5000
- "Holiday blowout! 10% off during the holidays!"
- Be creative!
A great way to distribute discount codes is through the Mall23 newsletter system. The newspaper. Trade magazines, television, radio, etc.
Using Discount Codes:
You can create coupons for your customer using the Discount Codes feature. Find this feature by logging into the manager. Then click on Product Manager->Products and in the top navigation, click on Discount Codes.
Any user who knows the code may use it. When you create a code, you may apply several filters and limitations, including:
- Code
- Status
- Reusable?
- Order amount range
- Date range
If you do not want more than a handful of people using the code, enter something fairly complicated that people cannot guess.
The status can be either active, inactive or used. When a code is a one-time use code, and has been used, the status will automatically change to "Used".
Use the order amount range to place limits on how much a customer can order. Or, use this range to specify a minimum order amount. Or, use the limit to do both. If you do not plan on having a limit, leave the fields blank.
The date range allows you to specifiy a start and end date in which the code is active. The code will automatically deactivate once the end date has arrived. This is great for seasonal promotions.
Enter either a discount percent or specific amount.
Customers have the option to enter their discount code on the page where they select their payment type. The discount code field only appears if the order falls within the set parameters (date range and order total amount range, as well if the code is active or already used and not reusable).
Invoices will display the discount code details.
